Calgary to Saskatchewan River Crossing on Highway 93 the Icefields Parkway Day Trip
Total Duration: 1 day
Total Distance Traveled: 503 km
Description: This is a great ride on a clear sunny day so you can get a good view of the mountains. Make sure to take your park pass. Good place for gas is Deadman's Flats just before Canmore before going into the parks. Stop at the Howse Pass Viewpoint for lunch which slightly before reaching Sask River Crossing. It has lots of picnic tables and a great view. Then stop at the Herbert Lake Parking lot for a rest on the way back. You could make the return trip on the David Thompson Highway (Hwy 11) through Nordeg and Rocky Mountain House then down Hwy 22 to get home but that is a much longer ride. I prefer to make the return trip back the way I came because the views of the mountains are completely different going back in the opposite direction.
